PROLOGUE
Greetings from the Pacific Northwest! My sister and I have been in Seattle for almost two weeks now, and we’re still settling in. We’ve also really gone through it. Four days in, my sister tested positive for COVID—and we’d been sharing a bed until we found an apartment. Yeah. Suffice to say, neither of us have been going anywhere since. However, we did find an apartment from the ones we saw before COVID struck, and the lease has been signed! I’m a PNW citizen now, y’all, and I have to say: I really love it here. What I can see from my window, anyway.
All of the chaos of moving and caring for my sister have left me without any time to read, so I’ve got nothing for you there. I’ve just been watching old episodes of Family Guy, because I’m usually too exhausted to do much besides let the bad jokes carry me along to sleep. And, like the rest of the world, I’ve been listening to Sabrina Carpenter’s new album, Short n’ Sweet, on a loop. I’m loving “Coincidence”, “Bad Chem”, “Taste”, and “Don’t Smile” so far, but there are no skips on this. I’ve been a fan of her for so long, it’s been really exciting to see her finally breaking out.
Anyway, this will be a very short newsletter because I’m still in the throes of moving, so let’s get to it!
CHAPTER 1: THIS ENDS IN EMBERS COVER REVEAL
For those who haven’t seen, I revealed the cover of THIS ENDS IN EMBERS on my social media last week. This cover is by Carlos Quevedo and will match the SO LET THEM BURN paperback that’s coming out the month before. I absolutely love what an epic set these books form (and that the sisters are facing each other and the dragons basically form a heart), so I was really excited to see everyone giving the cover such love.
Unfortunately for those, like me, who like their editions to match, there will not be a hardcover version of SO LET THEM BURN that matches the cover of THIS ENDS IN EMBERS. I’m making inquiries behind the scenes for alternatives, but, until I have news, the original hardcover with the art by Taj Francis will be the only one of its kind. Personally, I’d grab a copy of that one before it goes out of print because I LOVE that cover, but, if any of the things I’m begging for end up happening, I will let you know!
In the meantime, I beg you to preorder the paperback (which has a bonus chapter from Reeve’s POV, limited edition sprayed edges, and a sneak peek of THIS ENDS IN EMBERS) and the sequel. Preorders help authors so much, and, the more excitement you show for the series, the more my publisher will allow me to do for you. ;)
As always, thank you all for your support so far! If you can’t afford to preorder, please library order the book, or tell someone new about the series, or just boost any of my promo posts to help me get the word out and the hype up. I can’t believe I’ve finished a duology, and soon I’ll be a published author of TWO books. What a dream come true!
CHAPTER 2: THE REC ROOM
Welcome to the Rec Room, the section of my newsletter that I use to highlight books coming out each month I’m really excited about. For September, we have…
CELESTIAL MONSTERS by Aiden Thomas
New York Times-bestselling author Aiden Thomas returns to the beloved world of The Sunbearer Trials in Celestial Monsters, a heart-stopping duology finale, in which three young semidioses travel through a dark monster-infested world, facing down chaotic Obsidian gods, in a quest to save their friends and return the sun to the sky.
COMPOUND FRACTURE by Andrew Joseph White
New from bestselling and award-winning author Andrew Joseph White comes a queer Appalachian thriller that pulls no punches, following a trans autistic teen who's drawn into the generational struggle between the rural poor and those who exploit them.
IMMORTAL DARK by Tigest Girma
The Cruel Prince meets Ninth House in this dangerously romantic dark academia fantasy, where a lost heiress must infiltrate an arcane society and live with the handsome vampire she suspects killed her family and kidnapped her sister.
UNDER HER SPELL by K.L Cerra
A woman who returns to her hometown to investigate her childhood friend's disappearance soon finds herself embroiled in a deadly web of half truths, cover-ups, and dark magic.
CHAPTER 3: LOOK AT MY CAT!!!
I love when I catch my cat in the middle of a yawn, because she makes the best faces. For anyone worried, she’s adjusting well to Seattle! Eating as usual, napping as usual, using the litter box as usual, and purring as she curls up on her favorite couch with us.
EPILOGUE
Thank you for subscribing and/or for sticking around! I hope you like rambles, shenanigans, and nonsense, because that’s truly all this is. I consider September to be an entire month of Halloween Eve, so I’ll see you next month for even more spooky shenanigans!
